jiraiyas marking are probably paint just like kankuro as he had them even when he hadnt learnef sage mode

As one person said, Naruto's perfect SM was enough to surpass both Jiraiya and Minato's expertise in it. However, considering Hashi had SM too, its clear he was stronger. This isn't counting current powerups though that make the old scale obsolete.

As for Jiraiya's lines... I'm pretty sure he either painted them on himself, or someone else did. As he grew, that person added length to the lines as a sign of experience and wisdom. So the more he aged and the more experience he had, the longer the lines were made to match his maturity.

Naruto is the main character and probably has the highest chakra volume even without Kurama. Not to mention sage mode is perfectly sited for him...

I thought it was eye makeup...the older he got the more paint he added.
If this is going of Buddhism then id say the mark represents knowing oneself more/peace(two biggest themes about Jiraiya)
