Yeah, guys just cant help swinging but there is no hope.
His fastball is blazing, his breakingball is just plain unfair. And the rest of his pitches are sweet.

He performed well in his second start, can't wait for the third.

As long as his arm holds up he could be one of the best pitchers to ever play the game. Only downside is that he happens to be in the NL East. :p

I think he the type of player who likes the challenge, so he'll thrive in that division.

The Nats did pick up a player in the draft.
They got Byrce Harper(spelling) dude is a beast, he can hit, pitch, and play catcher/outfielder/any defensive position. O_O

If he is great in the minors, they might bring him up like Straus in a year.
They have a good core, just they to be confident and pick up a few extra pieces.

Strasburg, killed it.
10 K's and no walks.
He brought his ERA all the way to 1.86, he's under 2.0 in his rookie season. And he can still bring it down even more, and might have a chance to beat out Jimenez for the crown.

But the Nats were bad, they didn't even hit 2 runs on a pitcher that has a ERA of 7. Stras should have got the win. In my books he's 3-0 or 2-0-1, where the 1 is games he should have won.

Strasburg is having the greatest start to a career ever. But I cannot deny what Jimenez is doing. He has an ERA of 1.15, thats ridiculous.

But I have done the math.

Strausburg currently has a 1.86 ERA in 3 games and 19.3 innings. He has only allowed 4 earned runs. To win anyone crown you have to play a minimum, and the min is 67 innings. So he has about 46.6 innings left or 7 games if he plays about 7 innings per game. So if he allows only 4 or 5 runs in the next 7 game which I believe he can, he would be 8/9 runs in about 70 innings. If he allows 9 in 70 his average is 1.15 tied with Jimenez, if he allows 8 in 70 his average would be 1.03 which is ridiculous. There would be no way Jimenez would be able to go that low. Strasburg would have the crown on straps unless he messes up.

Calculate it yourself if you want.

maybe but it isn't all stats that are taken into account

for starters jimenez would have gone more innings and put up the same if not better numbers

add the fact that he is doing it in colorado (hitters park)

he also has a no hitter

straus is having a great start everyone expected him to he has a great chance at rookie of the year

but for cy young he doesn't stand a chance vs jimenez (this year anyway)

Of course, Jimenez absolutely has the Cy Young on straps for right now. Unless he has a breakdown, even if he does he has 13 wins.

There is only one way Stras would even have a chance to win the CY. Go at least 10+ and 0, have an ERA under 1.2, and 110K+less than 30BBs.

Or in other words, he's not wining.

It's that day again.
Strasburg played 6 innings, brought his ERA down to 1.78 (which is really good for a rookie pitcher) and had monster 9 K's/No walks allowing only one run. But sadly for the Nationals horrible batting that was too many and he'll have his first loss unless they just happen to break out of this slump.
