Orochimaru, Obito, Kabuto and Sasuke left Konoha, just look how strong they've become. I think if Asuma, Kakashi or Guy left Konoha, they'll become more powerful than their current state. Every shinobi should leave Konoha, it makes them weaker of fodder.
