Chapter 1: The Outsiders

"Why are we on this world? Why are we even here?" I asked Z as I pounded my fist on the ground. Z had been my best-friend after these past couple of years. Ben, or Z as we like to call him because of his sleeping problem; has blue eyes and grungy, dirty blonde hair that came down to his shoulders. He wears a dark gray t-shirt and ragged, faded black jeans with a pair of gray converse to match. "The way I see it, we are on this world for a reason; we just gotta find out what that is," Z said looking at the ruins of our old warehouse. "We should probably find a new place to camp out. I was getting a little tired of that warehouse anyways. We could go ask Sara if we can stay at her place for a few days. He says, holding a hand out to lift me on my feet. "If anything we shouldn't stay out here too long, we might run into some locals or military; and you know how that goes. I don't wanna get my hands dirty today, y'know? He says, pointing at his head. You see, Z has this weird thing about him. Ever since he was born, something about him was off. He progressed and learned much faster than other children. At age 5, he already was learning things like algebra, trigonometry, and all that other stuff. He's incredibly smart, but dangerous too. If you get him angry, which is a feat in itself; he could kill you with his mind. Kind of like being a psychic. It's..scary. I also have something special, I can't be affected by his abilities, or any others. When I was born, I had gray hair. Now as you know this isn't normal for a newborn to have. Unfortunately, my mother passed away birthing me. My father took care of me until I was 7, then the riots happened. They took me from my father, and put me in a camp. Luckily, I escaped. This was 11 years ago. "I know," I say brushing myself off. "But i think we should go to Rick's place. He's got all the weapons I'll ever need. We just gotta persuade him. You can take care of that, right?" "You really wanna go to that old guy? I mean if it'll help you then I guess I could tough it out, let's start heading over there.

After that brief discussion, I started hiking in my gray Vans over the hill that led to Rick's home. My gray flannel shirt, and black skinny jeans shielded me from the cold of the autumn air. I grew out my long, wavy, silver hair to keep me warm too, but just for a precaution; I also wear a gray beanie. I'm a very gray person as you can tell. As we were walking to Rick's house, Z stopped me. "Wait, stay here. I'll go talk to him first. I'll let you know when you can come in." "Deal," I say.

So i wait. And wait. and wait.

After awhile I decide to go in. What I see isn't really surprising. Z is asleep on the ground, while Rick is standing there wide eyed. "Z, wake up" I say kicking him. He wakes up and laughs, "Haha sorry man. I just, you know. Get a little tired." He says with a groggy grin. "Yeah" I say, a little annoyed, "Is he gonna be okay?" I say, worried. "He'll be fine in about 5 minutes or so. We should probably get some weapons while he's asleep."

We then gathered up some supplies, Z got a double-barreled shotgun and I got a black hunting knife and a bowie knife. Stealth is the way for me, while Z likes to go out loud. "Well, what should we do now?" Z asked. "Gather more people like I us I suppose" I reply. "We just need a name." A figure then comes out from the shadows. with straight, black hair and a slender form. "How about The Outsiders?" She says. "I'm in."

Authors Note:
I know my story skills are mediocre at best, and it's a little short; but I wanna get into story writing. Tell me what you think! Thanks for reading!

I wouldn't call your "story" skills mediocre, cause this is a pretty intriguing setup going in:) It could definitely use some work as far as structure and dialogue go, though.

I really appreciate that. Thank you. But any recommendations?
Well, when you're writing dialogue, try saying it aloud and picturing the persona of the character saying it, then kinda go from there so it sounds like something they'd say and in the way they'd say it. Every character has a unique personality and it's better to let their personalities determine the dialogue than what's essential for plot movement.

As for the way you're writing, you could put a few lines in between plain text and lines of dialogue, so it's not so crammed and easier to read.

Sure thing, man*_*
