This thread is directed towards males only... Sorry females, you don't have to deal with this bullshit!

Has anyone else ever had an issue with the Selective Service System? If YES is your answer, I am sorry... I feel your pain. If NO is your answer, I am envious of that... If you haven't yet, and you do ever have to deal with them... Do yourself a favor, and SLAP your self in the mouth as hard as you can RIGHT NOW!!! and right before any phone conversations that is if you manage to get an actual person on the phone. I suggest doing it repeatedly while on hold for the average 35 mins... It makes it a lot easier to give only the important information and prevents you from cussing at the person on the other end for telling you there is nothing you can do no matter what question you are asking or what the issue is.

ok my rant is over...

Oh and btw... if you are 26 or older and haven't registered for the draft yet... END YOUR LIFE... if will help you in the long run...

No the SSS isn't drafting people... but the problem is that if you don't sign up between 18 - 26... then you can't get financial aid for school, certain jobs, or any other type of government grants or aid... It makes it very difficult to attend college without money, or a job...

after you turn 26 you can no longer register, and then you are f*ed out of all of the above mentioned opportunities...
The main error that causes 4-5 million people each year to fall into the category of not being able to register because of stupid errors. One being if you served actively in the military and don't register when you are discharged. And the other is if you actively seek to join the military and are declined for some reason, you still have to sign up...

What's the issue? I'm not following this. If you're an American, you register for SS when you turn 18. I did it, even though I joined the military anyway. It took 5 minutes at the Post Office.

The registering for it isn't the problem, its the fact that when I was actively pursuing joining the military, filled out all of the required documents, took all of the tests, physicals, and mental exams... prepared the 8 year contract, 4 in and 4 out, all before I turned 18. unfortunately right before signing the and finalizing all of the contracts, bags already packed to head out to boot camp, I tore my left ACL, and was informed that I was SOL and should expect to hear back from them within the next year. With all of the contracts, tests, and such I was under the impression there was no need to sign up for the draft, again... I was told actively joining the military would serve as better than that anyhow... I was wrong, and now can no longer register, nor collect financial aid for school... nor get a government job if so desired... trying to join the military and being denied, released prior to boot camp, having a paperwork mix up... these are the most common mistakes when it comes to registering for the draft. Even if you hadn't signed up before you joined and got out before you were 26... you'd still have to sign up for the draft... even though you are still able to be called back after you are out... without this draft bullshit...

ok I'm done ranting about this...
