I think he means that Itachi is an excellent shinobi, in the way he sacrificed everything for his village and "put to shame" means he feels ashamed he couldn't be in that level.
Is it just me or is that translation completely different from the one i just read on here?
Not just like little word changes but saying completely different things
I think hashirama just meant that he was a better person in terms of faith and how you might describe itachi. This is of course doesn't mean itachi was better than hashirama in terms of strength if that's what this thread is about.
What hes saying is, basically, "Your brother is more of a man than i ever was" Not saying he is more powerful, but saying he was a better shinobi, a better man, Morally speaking, not skill wise.
