Shockwaves are energy, its also a basic in science that all energy can be converted into a measurable destructive force. The method usually used for is conversion to Joules.

Nice feat, but the Shockwaves couldn't even destroy the Earth?
That makes this feat invalid.

The Earth is the epicenter like i theorized. Elder Kai said the closer they are to the generation point(point of attack) the less collateral and that the farther away the more destruction.
Goku learned to control the collateral mid fight at the moment the universe would've been destroyed(third hit)
