I thought Hiruzen didn't want to kill Uchihas but it seems this chapter confirms he had more evil intentions than we really thought before. He actually says they(him included) forced Itachi to kill his fellows and even accused him to be a traitor

It was not his wish that this happened! But still, he feels guilty for it because he could not stop it.
I think that's his point. It was Danzo's plan after all, but he didn't have another option, so he said "we"

They most likely did that so a uchiha couldn't become hokage. I'm assuming that's they didn't want to taint the title and have their village fall into darkness.

Well i was stated that the third said there was a better way, although by the time it could do anything Itachi had already killed them... The story seems to be changing a little.

When they say "Accused him of being a traitor" they mean that they have to make the story believable. That Itachi was made to be the villian rather than the Hero (in this mission). The point of the mission was to portray Itachi as the villian and have Sasuke redeem the Uchiha by killing Itachi...which failed horribly.

We already saw Hiruzen's personal feelings on the matter. However, here in this chapter he simply explains the final outcome.

i used to think Danzo went behind Hiruzen's back
and told Itachi to kill the Uchiha clan
for his own selfish reasons.
although he is also apart of the village
so he would have been in danger too of the uchiha

Hiruzen was Hokage, which means he was above danzou in both ability and title. He should've stopped danzo. I've lost what little respect I had for hiruzen. Konohamaru is still my lil homie tho

He's a genuinely good person who had to make a tough call.
