I don't believe that Obito is dead. Not too long ago BZ was bragging about the fact that Obito is only alive becasue he was attached to him and that Obito would die as soon as he separated from him. They are still together. I think he means Obito's will is dead.

I think Obito is letting him think that until he can come up with a way to help team 7. After that bomb Madara dropped on him about being played with over Rinn's death, I don't see him just giving up. He's waiting for BZ to show a weakness he can exploit.
