There are many things wrong with this movie. I did not like it at all. I think the problem can be summed up like this.

I disagree. It's a matter of opinion but they made her into an unoriginal, 2 dimensional character that they thought was "deep" but was actually cliche.

Oh I like different. You should see Twisted (Aladdin from Jafar's point of view). In this case in my opinion they ruined the story as opposed to improving it.

In my opinion, I think the creative twist on Maleficent similar to a breath of fresh air. It would have been boring and predictable if they followed the same characteristics and personalities of the original story's villain.

Based on that review, it seems as if they possibly tried to do too much with the film (which happens quite often). Nethertheless, I still plan on seeing it. I was never a Sleeping Beauty fan to begin with, so it will be easy for me to judge the movie solely based off it's performances and script, without comparing it to the original.

If someone covers a song, and tries changing it up, it displeases people, because they're accustomed to hearing that one tune, but it doesn't mean the person covering the song isn't creative. Covers and twists on original media would always receive negative criticisms, but that's expected, because people aren't getting the "eye-candy" and "ear-candy" that they would expect.

Same thing applies here, it all boils down to a matter of a simple opinion.
