These numbers are relative, not absolute. For instance Melodias' strength is 960, while Merlin's is 70. Melodias' spirit is 2010, almost twice as much as Merlin's 1100. So Melodias outmatches Merlin severely in two of the three factors involved for deciding the power levels. The reason why Merlin has a higher overall power level, is simply because her power is ridiculously high, 3540 against 400. It's not even clear to what 'spirit' and 'power' actually refer. Though I assume power refers to attacks not generated by muscle or with other words magical attacks, Merlin's specialty.

At one point there were official numbers for the Bleach captains released based on 6 aspects that could be given a max score of 100 each. Kenpachi was, based on the sum of all those aspects, one of the weakest captains. Still he was able to easily beat two captains who had higher scores than him at the same time simply because he scored ridiculously high on 2 or so of those 6 aspects, but that didn't translate into the numbers as the max was automatically 100.

Not to mention it's questionable to which degree Melodias' demon powers are calculated in these numbers.

So in essence these numbers really don't allow you to start making a real pecking order nor make safe assumptions of who is now the strongest.

Last chapter pointed out they are approximations, they are rough references and can vary greatly depending on the situation, as Caliburn said in his post power levels here are not just pecking order and Nakaba has made sure the fights are not just based on power levels which is good.

Even though I don't like the concept of power levels in a manga but here Nakaba has give great thought by dividing the power levels into 3 parts (power, strength and spirit), so even if 2 people have same power they still can vary, which induces dynamism and is a great thought on part of Nakaba.

Merlin vs Meliodas would be a terrible match up for Merlin even in Meliodas' base form.

Meliodas specialises in countering magic or (power attacks) and returning it back stronger than before.

Merlin is hawt though.
