I'm assuming it is Hashirama's ability to heal wounds without handseals on a level greater than Tsunade's as Madara put it. I'm taking this to be the case considering Sasuke got stabbed later and there's no need to deny that he would need a plot armour to survive. If this wasn't the point and Sasuke's going to die, then what was the point of Hashi giving Sasuke a jutsu in the first place? I don't think Madara was tricked with a clone or genjutsu, he's freaking Madara whose plot shield is greater than SSJ God Goku. Otherwise, Kishi would have to pull some sort of otherworldly asspull. Like rinnegan or some other shit.

The only thing Hashirama gave Sasuke was a jutsu that will bind Madara because he has Hashi's sage mode. Unless that jutsu has multiple effects, Sasuke is either going to get saved (ugh) or get out of this with his own skill. Then again he has Hashirama's chakra. Maybe that will heal him.

It's a binding jutsu that activates towards Hashirama's senjutsu. He said so himself...
But since he didn't have the chance to activate it, I guess Sasuke will get the rinnegan. That's the only reason I think Kishi gave Sasuke Hashi's chakra, plus he just got stabbed, so that equals a dying moment.
On the other hand Naruto will obtain the sage's body with the chakra of the tailed beasts and the gedo statue's arm.
EDIT: Sasuke getting rinnegan and Naruto the sage's body will be for the final battle between them. Right now we don't know who's going to defeat Madara, but Kurama did say the Naruto will do something when tomorrow comes, so I guess he will do something big.

Sasuke getting saved is ridiculous. I think it'll be around a sextrillion on my fail scale. Jutsu that binds sage mode? I honestly don't see how you can BIND sage mode Madara with anything other than a wood style tech and that'd be..well..you don't say? If anything, THIS assumption will not contradict Hashirama's statement in that even if he gets sensed and countered due to sage mode, he could heal and continue the fight in close range hence binding an aspect of sage mode enhancement, possibly one of the most important ones as well.
Assuming he gets rinnegan, how can that heal him from alife threatening wound? Do you think Madara would be foolish enough to keep someone who activated rinnegan around long enough to master it?

I think bind means a sealing jutsu, just like how Danzo wanted to seal Obito and Sasuke?
EDIT: With the exception of sacrificing himself of course... Or it could be as you say a wood style technique.
We don't know what kind of Jutsu it is, but we know that it can bind Madara... So no use arguing with Hashirama's words.
