Theory: I believe Itachi has deduced that waking her up or removing her from Kabuto's grasp is the first objective in stopping the Edo Tensei.

Kabuto and Tobi talked way back about how Anko will make the Edo Tensei stronger. Therefore it won't completely stop it but may make it weaker. Not sure how making the Edo Tensei weaker is advantageous to those who are fighting. :?
