Hi guys. Something that I noticed that is happening a lot in the current gen games is the lack of split screen.
In the last gen(ps2 and xbox) and even older gens, we used to love to invite a friend or many friends and play together the split games, either the vs mode or the co-op.
In the current gen, the online multiplayer feature was introduced to the consoles, which is great. It's good to play with many other playes across the country or even the world. However, recently, this feature is replacing the split screen. The game developers are taking out the split screen feature. This happens even in series that used to have it(need for speed, for exemple), and in games that the feature would be awesome.
We do have the online feature now, but I think it will never replace meeting with your friends and playing with them.
I think this is a great advantage of the current games, it was part of the fun, and they're taking it out.
People say that this way is more profitable, because this way they'd sell 2 copies instead of 1. However, in the past, it wasn't exactly like that. 2 friends could have 2 copies of the game without a problem, and each one of them beat the single player campaing and then met to play co-op or vs. After all, a person don't start living in the friend's house, so if he/she wanted to have full "acess" for the game, he should buy it.
Also, some people really wanted to play a game with his friends, so some might give up on buying it after losing this possibility.
So, I think that the split screen and the co-op are awesome, and it is a mistake to take it out, so people should review that. I hope that most people think the same.
