Though not in itself a Yin chakra, such as the Yin/Yang training, Yin represents water. Coldness is a part of Yin - odd, as Yin represents death, but Water is the element of life.
The current does represent water's power. Nothing you or I could do would stop it - only the great power of Earth has a chance at halting it. "No sword, no matter how sharp, can scar water's surface."
Water is also the element of flexibility - the ability to react, or go with the flow, if you will.
But, as with the organisms, the water has great power, but it is not without great kindness.
