I personally hate when they mess with the characters, like they did With the human torch. Now Mary Jane is a read head this is stupid. Hopefully someone else pops up. Oh and Dunst sucked ass, she looked too old for Mary Jane. That role was always for Stone to play :(

They messed up the Human Torch? ...Johnny Storm is a hot-headed suave ladykiller, tell me what part of that isn't Michael Jordan to you. Perfect casting considering Storm's race is hardly integral to the character. That movie ruined every character...casting had nothing to do with it.

Is this suppose to mean something to me lol ......... I know what and how he is and to me Chris Evan did a better job at that character.

Representation? Shit changes all the time and it's a fictional character lmao. Whitewashing happens all the time and has been happening for the longest, you can wait.
They just need to create more characters of color, not change existing ones. It's like making black panther white.

Whitewashing is indeed a problem, but it goes both ways.

It does not go both ways because unlike white people, people of color haven't had the proper exposure to even come close to being overdone. It's needed because POC are turned away way more often than white people and everyone knows it, so you can kill that thought.

I don't like characters to change race, if it's not in the comics why try to be hip.
As if Hollywood isn't white enough. The film industry is incredibly unprogressive and so whatever change you get should be appreciated and encouraged. If superheroes are whats in now then for the next decade then representation and more open casting is gonna be desperately needed.

Race isn't an integral part of MJ or Johnny Storm's identity. Simple as :')

Say Black Panther or James Bond? Sure. His race and his gender are literal foundations of the character and they likely can't be changed without making a completely changed character at it's core but brave, supportive girl next door MJ Watson? really isn't tied down to one race in particular. That's how i've always seen it anyway.

No I dont care if a person is white or black they just need to look like the fictional character. If they dont than I have problems.

...?

Yet I bet you love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine despite him being terrible visual casting who was too tall, too thin, too clean shaven with a completely different costume and haircut...didn't fit at all but people sucked it up anyway. Or Maguire / Spiderman. McAvoy / Xavier. Sue Storm / Jessica Alba. Take your pick really.

You definitely don't see people whinging about the glorydays of White Nick Fury or how much they miss him at the cinema, that's for sure. Kicking up fusses about all this controversy sh*t is a new thing. As if people are getting more intolerant year by year.

Looool sorry to break it to you but creating 'new heroes' isn't exactly something you can just do in Hollywood. Getting a main protagonist who isn't a white, good-looking, straight male is progressive enough as we get these days- and even that's a new change thanks to stuff like Suicide Squad, Deadpool and Wonderwoman.

Hugh's is awesome as Wolverine. How does he not look like him?
Hugh Jackman IS awesome. But he sure as hell isn't faithful casting.

Wolverine is a hair-covered, bulky and short guy who ain't a looker. The black leather costume is a whole other thing but there's very little that's faithful to the original character even down to the hair. In theory: Hugh Jackman should be terrible visual casting, yet everyone loves him because he was so iconic he now IS many people's vision of Wolverine. You see where i'm getting at?

Casting isn't the problem. It's not a problem until people act like race is more important than the performance. There is also literally no harm mixing up Hollywood's run of white, straight, attractive men as leads i'm sure you can agree- even just for the sake of goddamn variety.

Ok Hugh's is playing Logan not Wolverine. Thats what I get from your statement which is fair enough for me.

I never considered race a problem. I said that the character needs to atleast look like the fictional character. How do you turn a red head to a black women? That makes no sense. Now her performance as her is another thing. That is still yet to be seen.

For the record I am not even happy with the new Peter Parker. He looks too average for my taste.

There's nothing to break to me, I'm not black so I don't really care for diversity and representation. But it feels like these things are being done on purpose just to get a reaction, and not because they want to be progressive, like when they made Thor a girl in the comics.

Because endless controversy after controversy is great for business when a large part of their demographic are angry fanboys.

Comics aren't the same as Hollywood. Comics have been going for so many decades that everything that can happen, will happen. They turned Sam Wilson into WereCap last month. That says it all. I'm not black or female either, but that doesn't mean i'm not bored of white identical leads.

They shouldn't be adding diversity just for the sake of adding it. I'm not into spiderman comics all that much, but for many people MJ has always been a white redhead with green eyes. Now of course how the character is played is by far the most important part, but tell me, who the hell is Zendaya? I mean if you're hell bent on picking a black girl for MJ, you could've at least picked a better actress. What is she known for? Terrible disney shows, not to mention she a singer.

No clue. Couldn't possibly judge til I see the movie, have faith in the studio's casting crew though. They have a pretty great track record.
