Speed of the Eight gates

The eight gates has been underestimated in various aspects and looking at those who possess this ability, we see the ability in line of their personality. Gai is able to open all eight gates and Lee is able to open six, though they die after opening their last gate. Imagine Kakashi able to open up to seven gates or Sasuke able to up to five gates, They would be far better than what they are now. The senses, speed, strength, stamina and powerful attacks would overshadow most characters. Watching when Gai and Lee open three or four gates each, they speed blitz the miniature kyuubi which is known to be pretty fast. Gai pulverized kisame, known to be a powerful akatsuki member and considered to have chakra comparable to that of a bijuu even after he absorbed the hachibi's chakra.

I have always wondered how they learn/know how to do some of this stuff like the 8th gate and RDS if it kills you afterward.
