This isn't much of a theory. Fair warning in advance (I'm to lazy to go gather quotes and pics).
Okay we all know by now the classic story of So6p and his elder and younger son.
I have a simple theory really...
What if over the 1000 or so years since that era the positions of the 2 sons got mixed and matched.
Now I'm not changing what they were made of, (yin and yang) the elder being spiritual and younger being physical.
What I am suggesting is maybe the elder son believed love was the key to peace and the younger son believed might was the key to peace?
I have justifications here for both the Uchiha and the Senju. I am not actually claiming the Younger was Senju and elder was Uchiha because those clans developed over a long period of time, I am just using them as examples.
Really all you need to do to understand this theory is flip flop your knowledge on which son supported might and which son supported love.
Most of us know the Uchiha were born with the "eyes of the sage" and Senju with the "body of the sage". Now just look at it this way. If Uchiha were supporters of love, that leads to a broken heart if taken away (sound familiar?). There's no stopping that. Maybe the So6p realized this and that is why he choose the Senju side that believed might was the key to peace (body of sage). Maybe the So6p believed letting emotion cloud your judgement would hinder the plans for peace. Of course this produced an over exaggerated effect of an eternal curse of hatred for when an Uchiha lost what he loved he turns to hate (the sickness that Tobirama claimed was in the Uchiha clans brains). Plus out of the fights we've seen between Hashirama, Madara, and their following clans, who always turned out on top? Who was MIGHTIER?
EDIT: Also I guess this is a matter of opinion, but love is a spiritual thing not a physical thing. At least that's what I believe. Of course then there is the argument of "making love"
