this is in light of some of the new so called findings i kinda want to know what other people think.

new claims are out about the effects on spanking.
some studies say that children that are spanked have 5 point lower IQ then there non spanked peers.
spanked children have a much higher risk of

The risk of major depression was 41 percent higher;

The risk of mania was 93 percent higher;

The risk of any mood disorder was 49 percent higher;

The risk of any anxiety disorder was 36 percent higher;

The risk of any alcohol abuse or dependence was 59 percent higher;

The risk of any drug abuse or dependence was 53 percent higher.

children are more likely to be more aggressive then peers by age 5.

what do u think of all these findings?
also do you think the government should step in on how to discipline our children.

i'm undecided on all this because of conflicting views on things.
i'm a believer that a parent can spank their child.
no i'm not talking about beating my child. or hitting so hard it actually causes lasting pain.
i'm talking about a swift pat on the butt or a soft smack on the hand and then a talk about why the behavior was wrong.
same with a soft smack on the mouth for a bad word.

Spare the rod, spoil the child. A lack of parenting is the result of children making stupid decisions.

Those results cant be trusted completely because the groups of parents that admit to spanking their kids are most likely the alcohol abusing stupid ones, which generally make alcohol abusing stupid kids more often. A test like this has way too many variables in it to be considered accurate. Parents that abuse drugs and alcohol, have low IQ's, and live in low income situations, are generally, not always but more often than not, a lot more likely to be rough on their kids, than smart, successful people. These smart, successful people, may raise kids who are a little bit smarter, but that was already genetically there anyways. They also are more likely to lie about hitting their kids. Another thing, they are raising kids that are more likely to be undisciplined little ass holes that think the world revolves around them, and are greedy and unpleasant. Kids need discipline, it just needs to be done in moderation, only when deserved, and not constant.

i think they can spank all that is misconstrued with betting a kid. i mean whats the scale there i will bet it mean any hitting at all that would mean beating

4 four year old is in a store he gets a toy and says i want it

mom- no

kid- i want it

mom- no

kid-.....fine ( kids steals it )

mom see he has it now should she spank? looks like we have a potechal thief on our hands a good spank might brake him of it because he connects a spanking with stealing and can brake him of the habbit
