The scan you missed out shows minato forming his hand signs after the tbb was fired, and then he still sticks out his hands and points his kunai towards the tbb. That must be one heck of a second U_U
You say the anime is better to analyse, yet that same episode showed minato catch his kunai and then ram the rasengan into Obitos back. Yet in the manga it clearly shows that minato caught the kunai after he had already slammed the rasengan into Obitos back. So no I'm. Not going to take the anime that seriously in this case, since the anime already got such a vital detail wrong.
