Just to mention you guys: the anime series director wasn't involved in the making of the movie unlike the previous ones, due Kishimoto wanted a director who has "experience" in love stories.

Also, why are you surprised that SP didn't know how the manga will end? SP never worked together with Kishimoto (or with any other mangaka) and the most fillers and "changes" (like Sasuke's Susanoo has the Totsuka sword and grud againts Kakashi at the Samurai Bridge or the Rikubi is not captured before Sasuke go againts Killer Bee despite in the manga it was written that only Bee and Naruto weren't captured ect)!

So no surprise, cause they never worked together with the mangaka. Even only a portion of them worked on the new movie.
