In the ninja world, there are obviously some shinobi and kunoichi who are unbelievably strong and powerful, while others are described as "fodder". Masashi Kishimoto evidently tries to display that those who endure for their goals and strive for a purpose or "shinobi path" develop strength. However, this is not entirely true from what I observed. This thread may have already obvious to people, however I wanted to share this.

There are two ways to be strong in the ninja world:

1) Powerups:

Whether it is a borrowed sharingan from a comrade like kakakshi, being blessed with genes like Sasuke, having enormous chakra reservoir/a kyuubi like Naruto, or a humongous brain like Sakura, you will be stronger. Other powerups could be a strong person reincarnated within you or a handed down jutsu from a god-like sage.

2) Natural Ability

Everyone has a skill, only you need to take advantage of it. Sasuke is a prodigy, Sakura has good chakra control, and Naruto has explosives power.

3) The main reason: your teacher!

Kishimoto tries to claim goals are the source of power:

Sasuke: Goals of hatred and revenge
Sakura: Goals of love and reaching her team members level
Naruto: Goals of becoming hokage and protecting loved ones/comrades

However, we know that in pt2 of Naruto team 7 emerged strong. This was due to the fact that they got strong masters. All of them are apprentices of one of the three sannin.

In other words, your master, not your goals, are the source of a ninja's strength!
