Sound Ninjutsu ( Oto Ninjutsu, literally meaning Sound Ninja Arts ) involves the creation and manipulation of sound waves in order to produce either an adverse effect on the opponent, or a beneficial one on the user. By utilizing their chakra, the user may alter the frequency of sound waves to the point different lengths can induce different effects. Due to its lack of physical substance, Sound Ninjutsu is predominantly supplementary and offensive, and mostly effective short-medium range. Anything from the ground to water or the air can be used as a medium for sound. As such, three main types of techniques can be used with sound release.
Abilities:
Note: the "instant" aspect of both Genjutsu Inducing Sound Waves and Hindering Sound Waves apply to the traveling speed of these sound waves in the battle field and only if no note on the techniques speed is present. It doesn't mean the techniques can't be defended from, only that their effects are rapid and that the sound waves are heard instantaneously. Only after they are heard can the effects start but they are heard virtually instantly.

Abilities:
- Destructive Sound Waves: These pertain to destructive low frequency but high energy sound waves which will cause physical damage to anything in their paths. These attacks are visible as ripples through the air or any medium in which they are used and are only slightly faster than Wind techniques
- Hindering Sound Waves: These pertain to sound waves that hinder the targets body by affecting things like his balance or disrupting his balance, etc. In this case, high frequency, low energy waves are used which travel at a virtually instant speed but lack any type of physical damage property. These types of Sound jutsu cannot effect the target's heart, brain or lungs nor cause direct damage.
- Genjutsu Inducing Sound Waves: These pertain to using high frequency, low energy sound waves as mediums to induce genjutsu. Similar to the hindering sound waves, these cannot be avoided and their effects are immediate. Sound Genjutsu follows the normal release methods of regular Genjutsu.
Restrictions:
- Can be made at any rank.
- Counts as an Advanced Ninjutsu.
- Requires 5,000 Kumi.
- Canon characters shown using Sound Ninjutsu are permitted their respective Sound techniques only.
