I don't really know why isn't this a big deal around here.

Just so you guys know, the SOPA and PROTECT-IP act haven't stopped! They were delayed over Christmas break, but the fight is NOT over to put an end to this! Do NOT assume that things were fixed, we won, and that you can expect to keep using the Internet as you do now!

It's shocking how few people know of this and the effects it will have. Most people don't know how the Internet works and assume everything's just fine. IT IS NOT! To shock the entire world into waking up, Wikipedia is considering going black-out next week! Help them support this cause by pledging a $1 donation. It's $1. To Wikipedia. That you don't even have to pay yet! This will be an enormous impact to get people AWARE of this thing that is threatening MUCH more than most people think! This includes the economy across the world, our jobs, and our way of life!

That is why i said very important, if you read the links in the original thread, you would also realize that wikipedia is under threat as well

Basically yes, but there is more, if for example someone gets angry at a site like, lets say narutobase, they can then sue this site for copyright stealing, he doesn't even need to give proof, then this site will be closed by a court order.

That is how the bill is explained to me. and that is how i'm explaining it to you, also note, if you want more details i have already put a link for the wikipedia search for it, feel free to read it, it explaines the advantages (only 2) and disadvantages (the rest of the page) of this bill
