Something that I have noticed a lot on this discussion forum that annoys me is people using the results of a battle between 2 ninja as the sole reason that one ninja is better than the other. I'll show you the stupidity of this argument with 2 simple examples.

Example 1: Kabuto vs Itachi. As has been noted in a recent thread, Kabuto has counters to all of Itachi's attacks. Kabuto also has ways to bypass Itachi's defenses. As a result, in a fair fight without the plot related circumstances affecting the battle, Kabuto would win the fight the majority of the time. HOWEVER, the majority of arguments I've seen from Itachi fans has been "Itachi already beat Kabuto, nuff said" or some variation of that stupidity. I'll explain now why it is even more ignorant.

Example 2: Sasuke vs Itachi. This basically substantiates my claim. Itachi fans claim that Itachi wasn't trying! In a fair fight, Itachi would have won...But wait. Itachi fans aren't letting that same logic go for the case in example 1...am I saying that these Itachi fans are contradictory and stupid???

Yes. Yes I am. The fact of the matter is this type of logic ISN'T logical. Plot affects each battle, and in a fair assessment of battle abilities, we eliminate plot related circumstances.

Also, this goes for many battles. Some more example are Sasori vs Chiyo and Sakura, where 1 side normally woudn't have 3 antidotes, and where the enemy wouldn't willingly allow himself to die. There's also Deidara vs Gaara, where Deidara wouldn't have an entire village to threaten Gaara with. I could also throw in Orochimaru vs Hiruzen, where Hiruzen wouldn't have all of that time in Bringer of Darkness to catch the 2 edos. He would have been killed outright.

I just chose to exemplify stupid Itachi fans because it seems to me that there have been a lot of them on the base lately, and it's getting on my nerves. My argument is still sound however.

or..orrrr here's a thought. we could just look at the battles and who have won and based off the info we get from the manga and decide. Rather than creating absurd battles like madara vs choji.

Because Itachi fans always believe that Itachi will always manage to "outsmart" and completely dominate a fight just on his brain, even if the enemy has counters for all his moves. Also all opponents are far beneath him in intellegence.

I blame kishi, not the fanboys

That's not using logic. Logic dictates that we disregard such situational battles, and create an entirely neutral scenario for our battles. Then, we can fairly judge one ninja's abilities against another's without unfair circumstances affecting the result. This is how the smart people do it. The other people become contradictory, as I described in my OP.

Does this also annoy you?

No. No it doesn't. Was it supposed to?

I'm not a huge Itachi fan myself but I will point out that Itachi technically won the fight with Sasuke. Once Sasuke used Kirin, that was it. He had nothing left. Itachi countered this, and still had enough fight left in him to seal Orochimaru. It was Itachi's disease that did him in.
