Minato was still in kcm mode-_-. Kishimoto is just a dumbass.

I think Minato was talking about his own chakra. When Minato used FTG to move them from the barrier, that was his own chakra, which is why he was panting afterwards and it makes sense because they needed to be linked to Minato chakra, not Yin Kurama, since that's not Minatos chakra.

I think the anime clarified this even more when it showed their chakras combining because Narutos power was red (Kyuubi) and Minatos was blue (his own) but it still doesn't make sense because as you said, he was in KCM and should have still had Kurama chakra at his disposal.

Also in the anime, it showed after Naruto was sucked dry from the God Tree, Minato gave him all Yin Kurama chakra then he went back to base.
