It was Kaguya's bone technique. It acts as a corrosive acid of some sort that destroys the target, like Deidara's C4 Karura no jutsu. Though I am inclined to believe it was a clone that was hit, for two reasons.

- The original would not die so quickly like that, the chapter would've ended there if it was really him
- That Naruto did not have the Onmyoudon balls with him. Only the original has them.
