Orochimaru is to knowledge what Itachi is to planning/paranoia. It's safe to assume he knows something we don't.
Or, perhaps he doesn't know. In which case - there is a lot of opportunity to learn from watching others play against Madara. Who knows - perhaps Orochimaru is bringing Itachi back - or conveniently in-the-know about a jutsu/seal/artifact that will make whatever-madara-is-about-to-do blow up in his face.
Orochimaru doesn't usually like to enter combat without first rendering his opponents flat-footed or prone. He likes to make sure he has some sliver of an advantage to capitalize on.
He's probably not going to just charge in with his guns blazing, like Naruto - or try and strike an occupied opponent, like Sasuke. He'll do something to upset Madara's current stomping spree and strike while Madara is still in "WTF" mode.
