Someone clarify EMS for me...

So once an Uchiha someone obtains MS they need to transplant their sibling's eyes into their self. but what is stopping two siblings from exchanging eyes? Why couldn't Izuna and Madara simply switch eyes to both get EMS?

I am assuming its the pain of loss. usually when you receive your brothers eyes he died. so the pain of you losing your loved one may activate the EMS. a simple exchange would have no effect on the sharingan because no emotional pain would be involved

They can exchange them if they want but in the series the plot was in the way:

-Sasuke/Itachi: Sasuke hated Itachi so he tried to kill him and not make an exchange

-Madara/Izuna: Izuna had this fatal wound from Tobirama so it would be waste of time to transplant EMS into him cuz he would have died anyway
