Most people are under the impression that entering Sage Mode is a difficult ordeal for Jiraiya. The fact is that there are many ways in which Jiraiya can perform the task, and many ways he can buy time to summon the two great Sages Fukusaku and Shima.

1. Naruto's method

Jiraiya has the ability to make Shadow Clones. He can enter Sage Mode the same way Naruto did - by making clones and having them sit still to gather nature energy. Once the clones have attained enough nature energy, he can extinguish them, allowing him to enter Sage Mode himself.

The instant the clone was extinguished, the real Naruto entered Sage Mode since all experience from the clone goes to the original user. The same applies with Jiraiya.

2. Hiding in a toad's belly

Jiraiya specializes in summoning toads. After summoning a toad (or the eso****us of one), he can crawl inside its mouth and enter Sage Mode there. The toad can serve as a meat shield to protect from attacks while Jiraiya sits still and gathers Nature Energy to enter Sage Mode. Even better, he can use this time to summon Fukusaku and Shima.

But sometimes a toad's exterior doesn't provide enough protection. Jiraiya would need to hide his presence so his opponent can't find him. One way for him to do that would be to shrink:

Unless his opponent is a sensor, they won't be able to detect a small frog. Even better, he can use a basic transformation jutsu to turn the frog into a rock or part of the landscape (just like he used a transformation jutsu to make it look like a bar, or how Naruto used a transformation jutsu on Gamabunta):

3. Traveling to Mount Myoboku

What Jiraiya can do in this third situation is create a shadow clone, summon a toad, and hop in the toad's mouth. The toad then reverse summons back to Mount Myoboku, providing a quick escape just like it did for Kabuto (Kabuto presumably teleported back to Ryuchi Cave):

Once in the land of the toads, Jiraiya can either seek out Shima and Fukusaku or simply enter Sage Mode himself (the toad oil fountain would make it even easier). Now he's in Sage Mode, and he crawls back into the toads mouth. The shadow clone that Jiraiya left at the battle scene now summons the toad, with the real Jiraiya inside, who is currently in Sage Mode.

Please post any feedback, thank you ^_^

but had he had the time to gather it he would...and even with them helping him he still got frog appearances so yea

Minato could easily solo Jiraiya, and is a complete counter if you ask me.

@1 - You need to have went there before the battle: Preparation Time.
@2 - He can use Contract Seal so J-Man can't summon any Toads at all, or Tag him with a FTG Seal, so whenever he appears inside the Toad's stomach, Minato teleports right beside him, lights up the area with a Rasengan, and Jiraiya's dead asf.
@3 - That's basically fleeing the battle, which means you forfeit and lose by default.

Not to mention Minato can also enter Sage Mode for a short time, and he does it kinda quickly.
If he absorbs enough Oil and Natural Chakra, he'll just nail Jiraiya with a Sage Art Rasengan.

I believe Minato can do all of this, but better and for a shorter amount of time when he does use Sage Mode.

I think you misunderstood the topic of this thread...

Nope.
I just stated Minato could beat J-Man and do what he can, but a lot better. :D

You definitely misunderstood the purpose of this thread.
Nobody even mentioned Minato until you.

#2 is actually a good method, but the other two won't work.

1. That's prep.

3. If the clone jiraiya creates is killed by the opponent then he loses.

Okay, so?
Minato could do all of that, but a lot better than J-Man; that's what I'm trying to say.

Wouldnt going into sage mode and gathering nature energy take more space and room and idk air or something? could be wrong/ I thought Jiraiya could probably stand on top of another Toad while he's in the process of gaining nature energy , but using a clone would be a backfire I think. Jiraiya couldn't handle it as easily as Naruto could and even took on the Frog-like transformation and even with using the help of Ma & Pa whom he needed in order to keep from transforming all the way into a toad stone and dying. A clone would be only half of Jiraiya's power and would probably turn to a frog statue (poof). Also if he is on top of another Toad , then Itachi could just use Genjutsu on the toad and forefully command it to follow his own orders just as Sasuke did with Manda..

But that is off topic anyway.
