Thank you all so much! :yayy:

This is really pretty and so life like. Just like someone else said It almost looks like a porcelain doll, or even one of those BJD dolls. (Ball-Jointed-Dolls/ If you ever heard of them. XD) Also what brand of water soluble pencils did you use?

Hahaha I actually modeled it after a photo of a BJD I came across on DA. <3

I used Royal Talens Van Gogh and a few well blunted Faber Castell ones where I didn't want the colour to stick, like the pink blush and some facial shadows.

Haha! That is pretty damn awesome. <3 x'D You did such an amazing job. <3~ How long did it take you to make this?

Ooh I see now.~ Seeing this drawing really makes me want to check into those. They seem really cool to work with. <3 :'D

Thanks again! <3

Well, I suppose it took around 4-5 hours off and on. I'm not actually good with keeping track of time and staying put after starting a piece. I possess the attention span of a tea spoon so if I don't get up and stretch my legs every half an hour or so I tend to muck my drawings up. :D

Oh the Royal Talens Van Gogh series are brilliant. They're both relatively cheap and very easy to work with. But, mind you, the paper you work with is extremely important too. It doesn't have to be a bloody 200 gr Schoeller which costs a quid a sheet... Damn you Schoeller! You're the reason I was broke throughout university!
Ehem... What was I saying?
Yes, you don't have to work with Schoeller or any other fancy brand, but at least try to work with papers with a good texture. Otherwise, even if you do your best, the results won't do justice to your work.

I tend to buy my papers by weight. The last I purchased were drawing blocks, 5 quid for a kilo. They probably come from China. I haven't had any problems with them yet. They're cheap, of relatively good quality and I don't think I'll run out of sheets in another year or so. <3

Haha no problem.~ <3

Oooh I see and I feel you.Lol~ Sometimes I loose track when I am drawing as well and I have to move a bit otherwise my legs and back start to cramp up. X'D

I tried looking for the Royal Talens Van Gogh yesterday on Amazon to see if they had any, but I couldn't find that brand. D: Where did you get yours? -I might want to put these things on my Christmas list. ;D- Cause right now I don't have the money. Haha.

Goodness that is expensive. X'D And oh noes baddd Schoeller! D: I imagine that the paper is important. Don't want to use the wrong kind and end up making holes in it or something. x'D However I have a new Scrathmore Bristol book I had gotten the Christmas that has passed. -Haven't used it yet.- Do you think that would be alright for using those pencils? The paper is pretty smooth and kind of thick. :'x

Ahh I see. Is Drawing Blocks what they were called? :'O I want to know so I can look them up. Haha. <3 Well at least they'll last you a good while. ;D <3

Oh dear, I had a look around too but didn't come across anything on ebay. Talens might not be a well known brand in the States. I buy mine from an art supplier, so I've never had to order them in.
But there are a couple of other good brands that you can choose from. Talens is just the one I use. :D

Hmm, there's Derwent. Derwent's Inktense series are relatively cheap and pretty high quality. I think they're usually supplied from the UK but I found a set for you . You can just search the keywords on ebay and find a better option than the link I sent you. A 24 piece set will probably be more than enough, but if you have a little extra money to spare, just go bigger. :D

Faber Castell's Albrecht Dürer series are also exceptional. Just type ''Faber Castell Albrecht Durer'' in the search option of ebay and you'll find a good amount of hits.

My all time favourite is Caran D’ache, but attempting to purchase a good set will definitely put you out on the street for a month. They do justice to their price, but I think one of the above options will be more suitable. You can get nearly as good results while paying a lot less.

Wow! You're lucky, Strathmore Bristol is one of the best!
Each sheet has two surfaces. The smooth side you mentioned is used for drawings made with pens or indian ink. I wouldn't recommend the use of pastel, watercolour or coloured pencils on the smooth side, unless you're going for a certain effect.
The other side of the sheets, which are called vellum, have some texture and are great for anything and everything. The paper I used for this drawing is pretty similar to the vellum side of Bristol.

Wow, I've written quite a lot, haha.

Ooh I just clicked on the link and that's not a bad price at all. <3 I'll probably either go with Derwent, or the Faber Castell's Albrecht Durer one. <3 Checking both ebay and Amazon, they have them in stock and for a decent price. <3 I'll just have to add them to my favorites until I have the money to buy them.~

I just looked up Caran D’ache and you're right. It is a bit pricey. XD I'll just probably stick with the other two you pointed out to me.

Well that's good to know! And I haven't used it yet either, so it'll come in handy whenever I do purchase the pencils. :'D However I'll probably get an extra one as well. Ahh I didn't take notice to the other side of the paper until you just pointed it out. And you're right there is a difference in texture. x'D

Haha that's fine. <3 I appreciate your help about the pencils and what paper to use. It was of great help. <3 :'D
