Background Information: There are two main sources, the ocean erodes away the headland, thereby dropping rocks onto the beach, or in places where the beach is adjacent to hills or mountains, rocks get washed down the creeks onto the beach, whithout enough time to erode into sand. Rough weather will cause beach erosion exposing these rocks, while depositing the easily washed sand elsewhere.
