1. He cast a gengutsu on them to restrict their movements.

2. while the beast are unable to move he CT them

so what is the weakness of this jutsu: if he unable to put the person he is trying to CT in a genjutsu and restrict their movements. then this will happen.

Maybe that's why sasuke had to genjutsu them first....because kurama has already shown the ability to break out of CT. The Gedo mazo can't break out because it can't move on its own without the bijuu chakra. So, maybe all bijuu have enough chakra/power to break out of CT??

Without putting them in genjutsu Sasuke wouldn't have been able to make them the core in the first place.

Nope you are wrong OP, genjutsu is not needed to cast CT, it is just mean to keep tailed beast calm down and not at rampage so not need to worry about tailed beasts escaping it by busting it or by some other means.

It is based on:

1. Marking target by Yin and Yang seals by Special technique made by Hagoromo to turn marked tragets into core of Chibaku Tensei
2. Then you easily cast CT on them using them as cores due to markings
3. Done.

It was only used once and won't be used again. The moment Naruto and Sasuke placed seals on Kaguya is when Tailed beasts got also marked but it was unknown to us. BZ said that marked target turns into CT's core once CT is casted. Sasuke found out it and used it so it worked.

Sorry that makes no sense. The tailed beast weren't marked or else they wouldn't have escaped the CT that got kaguya. Not to mention it's been showed multiple times jutsu used on the host don't effect the bijuu inside directly.
