Shikamaru starts by inserting chakra into his Shadow after performing the Rat handseal.He makes multiple shadows around his body.He then manipulates these shadows to form into pointed spear heads that act like a defense around him and an offense.

But this technique can't be used for offensive lol but who saya it defense isnt offensive lol. Now try it again and this time form the shadows in one position instead of all around you.

Wrong, you suppose to form them in one spot, not multiple spots. For an example: make the shadows come up on the right side of you. This technique also doesn't require hand seals

Shikamaru then inserts his chakra into his shadow.He then manipulates it to rise on his right side and also manipulates it's tip to form into a spear like point.

As it is a short range jutsu,it can be used as a quick defense against taijutsu and also incoming projectiles.It's B rank so it's pretty strong.
