Who is more useful to their Avatar team?

They are both the non benders of the team.

Sokka:

Has great strategic thinking.
Good with a boomerang and sword.

Asami:

Can drive cars, planes and the whole lot.
Can use mecha tanks.
Has a shock glove and is good with martial arts.


I would say they are pretty resourceful despite not having bending.

Its hard to say. They are equally good and awesome with their own traits. The only reason Asami has that long list is because shes in a more advanced era. Trying to tell whose better is like deciding what air and water taste like.

Sokka was basically the strategist of team avatar. Asami helped but she wasn't like a crucial element, imo.
