SO6P Brother Theory

So I'm not really into theories myself, but I thought I'd throw mine out (feels more like an idea anyways) there. So in 670 the Sage says that him and his brother both absorbed the Ten Tails. This is interesting because we all know that the Sage was the one to divide the Ten Tails into 9 parts at his death. So this leads me to believe that one of the following things happened:

1. The Sage and his brother divided the Ten Tails Yin and Yang chakra between themselves. What we see now is only half of the actual Ten Tails that the Sage took and the other half will make its way into the story later.

2. Same scenario but this time, the Sage's brother attempted to either gain the full Ten Tails or destroy his (or perhaps both) halves. This option breaks down even further: a) The Brother was killed by the Sage whilst attempting to gain the Ten Tails full power for himself or trying to destroy it in its entirety
b) The Sage was completely fine with his brother destroying his half and kept his own

If I recall the translation Viz gave suggests it was all sealed into Hagoromo. I'm leaning towards the assumption his brother played the key role in sealing the Juubi into Hagoromo. Acting as the Sealer while Hagoromo is the host.


Most likely, the overwhelming power that Hagoromo ended up with caused him to be praised as his brother was overshadowed into legend. It could also be the brother became an isolationist or even died in the battle. Though the isolationist matches the Uzumaki who are recluses or the Hyuga who join Konoha later, but even then act separately.

I believe it did. Though I recall someone making a thread talking about the official translation of the Kanji having a legitimate claim to sealing inside us (or however it was given) as having a fair (though maybe lower) chance.

Kishi needs to further explain the brother, Indra's eyes etc.... To many unanswered questions.
