I'm not special yet by my standards, but I'm definitely unique because of the combination of personality, interests, skills, identity, and experiences I've had.
My potential for greatness is increasing exponentially as time progresses. In 20 years, I project myself being major figurehead in the biotech industry, being a huge leader in CRISPR research, and genetic modification. I hope to be one of the few men/women who leave a lasting impact in world of science, and potentially, human history, by bettering the human life experience through science. Then, I'll consider myself special.

Benefiting man-kind and self validation are not mutually exclusive, you're setting a false dichotomy in the nuance of efficacy. A doctor who seeks payment for his work can care for his patients the same way a scientist who seeks credit for his research can care for the greater good his research serves. The quote "bettering the human life experience through science" does not and cannot lead you to the conclusion that my goals are solely based on seeking self validation, and even then, no one is required to be altruistically motivated to do good. Alexander Fleming could have been a selfish bastard for all we care, doesn't changed the fact that his discovery of penicillin revolutionized the medical field and saved an invaluable amount of lives.

I think you do think you're someone special...i certainly do.That's a lot of high expectation...you've got to think you're someone special, to have those kind of goals, or to be able to express yourself in such a way.
