Yeah, the latter.All naruto ever wanted was Sasuke to acknowledge him and when sasuke said he couldn't even put a scratch on his protector, doing so was naruto's way proving him otherwise

In the start of the fight, Sasuke claimed Naruto would not be even able to scratch his headband, so Naruto took up that challenge in addition to try to bring Sasuke back

Naruto should've blown Sasuke's head off, that would've put an end to all the Sasuke fapping. Tbh both VOTE 1 & 2 belong to Naruto even though he spared Sasuke's ass both times and finally made him submit to his will.

Maybe you need to rewatch the anime...naruto doesn't have any intention to kill him while sasuke go for his heart....otherwise your lord sasuke is died long ago
