How? Madara and Obito were the Bridge for Revolution. Through there machinations a great change was brought to the ninja world. Although if we look at it.

It really wasn't them or Kaguya, it was Black Zetsu the loyal little "son" of sorts. But honestly I agree with the OP. Kaguya really wasn't needed at all for this.

I thought this too at first, but it was never touched on anymore than that. Besides the fight between Naruto and Sasuke is about to happen which Kishi said in an interview that he would end this series with this fight. Since there is only 1 movie left and this is pretty much the end of the road...

...I don't see another timeskip happening, unless these develpments are going to play out in the movie.
