The scale Obito used is too far beyond what Itachi could handle: especially alive. Omnyouden counters his Susanoo:

1. Totsuka and Yata require chakra manifestation to be used.
2. Omnyouden > Chakra
3. Omnyouden cancels Susanoo
4. No legendary weapons



Obito moved faster than Kabuto, and Kabuto was fast enough to blitz Itachi.

Izanami effects those who run from themselves. Kabuto stopped trying to be Kabuto, but an assimilation of people to become the sage of six paths. He changed and ran from who he was/is.


It can be argued, with the comparisons, Obito is still like Naruto, but is in denial about it. Thus, Izanami works because he won't accept the actions of what happened in this world as well as who he is.
