So what exactly should I do here?

I don't even know how to explain this good because it happened all at once.

So it was around 7 pm and I was on a break at work than I started getting calls and messages from some friends of mine who moderate a group with me. They send me a link to a lolcow post(website for coward trolls) that used my picture as the thread photo.My friends were apologizing to me and made me feel like the post was about me so I click it and started laughing because I saw my photo and some drivel about "black weeaboos sjws. hating white people". I generally don't take trolls seriously so I commented to bait on the post with my real name and joked about how they were all annons afraid to actually message me. They kept cursing me as annons and I laughed about it. The internet was kinda tripping on my phone so I had to wait a while for the site to load than I saw the full thread and it was about innocent members in our group.

After that, I got worried about our members because not everyone is gonna shrug off trolling and troll back trolls. These people had photos of the members too and was mocking the way they looked. So I started messaging the members to hide their photos on facebook from those folks. One of the members said she started crying but she told me thanks for notifying her that people were stealing her pictures. After that she shared the lolcow thing to her facebook than I got a message from a girl on my friend's list named La'Trice.

La'trice and I had got into an argument because she said I was jeopardizing the girls by linking them and showing them that someone was stealing their stuff. She blamed me for that one girl crying. So I told La'trice that I wasn't okay with hiding that stuff from the members in the group. So she went on to said she send the other admins that lolcow and it wasn't for me to notify the girls of what happened. So I asked her what was the point of her sharing that lolcow to us if she didn't want us to notify the members. She told me it was for us to know what was happening. After that she told me to stop messaging the girls about it and I told her I can't agree to that because it's not right for me as an moderator to withhold that from the girls.

Wouldn't I be wrong if I didn't tell these girl and young women some anon trolls are literally stealing their photos and screenshotting their post?

Also, none of the anons messaged me even though I used my real name on there and told them to message me on facebook. I think they are afraid to reveal who they are. Also I'm not linking the group I moderate on facebook or the lolcow post.

I can understand your moral dilemma and wanting to let people know what is being done with their photos, but you also have to be aware that if you post your photo on the internet anyone can gain access to it and do with it what they please. Perhaps it would have been better if these photos would have been set to private, so that only group members have access to them. But these things are pretty much unavoidable. It's horrible that there are people out there that to these things, but that's just how it is. All put into consideration, I would have probably done the same thing and notified these girls what is happening with their photos. Hope you get it sorted out.

Yeah they have a right no know if people are misusing and keeping files of personal info I personally think you did the right thing.

I'm somewhat confused who got mad at you for sharing is it another mod like you? Seems she feels it's like snitching and way I see it there's info that people have a right to know and don't.

If something has to do with a person or might potentially effect them they have a right to know, maybe the other girl sees its better not tell them either because she thinks she's protecting them or she's just trying to avoid a conflict.

In same time when you decide to share any public info with others you need to realize people will abuse it so if you don't want that to happen you have to choose what your comfortable with sharing with people.

Yea I know that why I laughed when I saw my photos. Also the group is private.It's a member from inside the group doing this because people outside the group can't access their photos and they were going on these girls facebooks and stealing photos too.

The other girl is just a normal group member. She's friends withj one of our admins.

Same. I don't post pictures of myself on fb, where my profile is set to private and I only have actual friends/people I know added. I never reveal my face or personal information anywhere online, except protected sites for banking etc.

I would just tell her that you disagree and ignore.

I tell everyone to be careful and don't use FB for the same reason. People should be aware that snaps can be misused. At NB itself we have people who steal snaps, stalk people on FB or other media and even use it to make emoticons, or edit it for trolling purposes. Funny part- someone told me they were warned against posting snaps by some people in a private chat and being cautious now they share snaps in that group only. Ironically the chat had some of the same people who were most likely to do it. *facepalm* moment. - Don't share personal details with people you don't know or know only via internet forums/chats etc. Period.

I would say you made the correct choice. It is unfortunate that they felt bad about being trolled but if it was me I'd rather know about what was going on.
