Gaara only managed to pull Madara out of Susano'o because Onoki made the sand lighter by himself he wouldn't be able to do so.

Gaara could have still accomplished that feat. without the sand being lighter. Gaara never had problems with moving sand regardless of the weight, thus not needing Onoki's help, Onoki only made the process quicker. Gaara vs Kimmimaro, the sand he moved around during the sand Tsunami most definetly weighed more then the sand he was moving around against Madara, hence Gaara having the capability of doing it alone.

the dust on its head will affect it
