So there's this misconception about Madara

Everybody thinks that besides Hashi, Madara would be arrogant and careless in battle against everyone else. Wrong, of course he'd play with them but only because they're fodders in his eyes, but that doesn't mean he'd be careless. His battle experience is too stronk to be that stupid, he's like Kakuzu never let his guard down. Some people be like "assuming he's serious from the beginning and not get cocky" and stuff like that.
