Anime or it would resembles (or would be similar to) Minato's nickname "The Konoha Yellow Flash." It also probably had to keep to its characterstics which is lightening (or Raiton) infuse with chakra. Or like some said above about chakra being yellow in Manga.

In the manga in part one naruto said to jiraiya "well if chakra had colour normally it is yellow but this chakra was a reddish orange colour(kyuubi's chakra)". The anime decided to make chakra blue.
