you're saying this latest chapter with Gaara getting Shukaku back makes all the past events totally useless..
because it was about him losing Shukaku and people losing lives and limbs all over Shukaku and now Gaara gets it back.

So you would like it if Sasori's death was never explained, Deidara's weird stitched arm was never explained, Mangekyo came out of nowhere, etc.

Nitpicking. Deidara's stiched arm could be just his character design.He had mouths on on his hands, does that need an arc?.

Mangekyo was introduced better in the invasion of pain. It could have had its introduction there.

Alot of edos were introduced without prior backstory and were fine.Trollkage anyone?

Akatsuki had a better introduction with hidan and kakuzu,shippuden could have started there.

It introduced sakura new abilities and gave her development

It revealed the Akatsukis goals.

It showcased Narutos abilities

It developed the Naruto/ Gaara relationship

The arc was not about gaara getting shukaku taken from him
It was about Naruto saving him, having his first battle with the akatsuki, and explained the akatsukis motives and the process of extracting a bijuu
Chiyo and sasori were also brought by by edo tensei
The arc wasn't pointless because it wasn't like "gaara loses the one tails then gets it back"
It was lost and it furthered the plot and the gaara has a chance at getting it back
