Ok , so now it makes sense.
In alternate future, 10,000 dragons invade the country and rogue is one of the few people who survive the destruction.
Maybe this is how future rogue turned bad. Ultear would have tried to use her magic and seen that rogue would be trying to take over the world, so she tries to kill him but rogue somehow survives and turns evil as he lost faith in humanity ?
In current timeline, something similar is about to happen. Ultear would try to kill rogue , the dragon would use TnJ on him and show him how bad humans are, which would convince rogue and then he will TRY TO kill ultear with help of that dragon.
But the current timeline is different from the alternate timeline so, something would happen which would prevent this all from happening. I leave it upto you to think what could happen.
For me, i think Gray would save ultear and they both will defeat the dragon and gray would receive a powerup comparable to power of dragon slayer. Present rogue will either die or would be turned good again by someone .
