We see here that Madara throws the Susanoo blade at Gaara:

In the above page we also see the blade dislodge from Shukaku's hand and cut the Gedo chain at two points. The blade then manages to change its projectile angle and reach Gaara:

All of this is done by Madara remotely....

This could be an interesting development for Sasuke's Susanoo arrows. Ultra-fast arrows that change their projection mid-flight would we even more deadly.
