Rinnegan theory states that when the ninja world is engulfed in chaos either a destroyer or a god of creation is sent down to earth. The destroyer will reduce the world to nothingness while the god of creation will re establish peace. Now we have an answer to which applies to Sasuke. I gotta say I'm pretty upset with this outcome.
