For a manga that is meant to be entirely composed of a grey area, Kishi hasn't done a good job of justifying the villains especially the Uchihas. From this endless cycle, it seems as if everybody who follows Indra's path is wrong whilst everybody who follows Ashura's path is entirely right.

I'm failing to see the 'grey' concept anymore between Naruto and Sasuke as clearly Naruto is the light.

Thoughts?

Well there usually two sides to one coin. What are you expecting to be in the grey area?

Sasuke is in the grey area for sure, and besides most of the times was Grey vs Light, Naruto was always good, the villains were the ones who were in the grey area

after reading naruto many years.. you've come to this conclusion??? wow

it's not only naruto, that's a central theme of storytelling

the hero and rival.

naruto and sasuke

Goku and vegeta

ash and gary(i know past, but every rival of ash seems to be a gary sue)

Yugi and Kaiba

the list goes on

The series has become like star wars.

Obito is like vadar.
Madara is like palpatine
Ninshu is the light side of the force and ninjutsu is the dark side of the force

Did anyone else notice this?

You're looking from a character perspective.

Hagoromo is biased towards the views of the younger son but when you look at the situation from the outside, we know that Indra and Ashura share a common goal of peace, it's just their paths towards it are very different.

The latest chapter highlights how good and bad are subjective and how a person like Madara or Sauce would see Indra as trying to be good, others like Naruto would see it as bad.

It is grey in the sense that the villains aren't "pure evil". It is black and white in a sense that Naruto's way is right, and Indra's way is not.

That's all in your mind, subjective. Of course Kishi will make it so the protagonist is the one who's right, who's good etc. since he needs to get his message across (it's Shounen after all). But it doesn't mean others' actions are less justified.

No. Both have had to learn and grow from the beginning, and obviously it is not black and white.

Why? Because the Sage's sons killed each other. Hashirama killed Madara. The fight between the enemies has only ever increased, never has it ended. Fighting has produced even more reasons to fight.

Something different must happen between Naruto and Sasuke. If it ends the same as every other conflict, then all would have been for nothing.

Naruto has always been black and white. Its still a shonen at the end of the day. Its just that the never ending cycle and the people who follow the dark path are becoming more exposed. Sasuke, Madara, Indra, Obito etc were never "right" in the first place in the eyes of the manga.

Manga is about shinobi.
They glorify assassination.
They are heroes for sure.
