Hidan has no abilities bar his ability to draw blood and start the Jutsu. Temari hardly has any long list of Ninjutsus as well. Therefore, it's limited resources against limited resources. Furthermore, Hidan is a fool. It's easy to outwit fools. Temari is hardly a prodigy. She's bright, but she isn't few of the most intelligent members. Not even close.

Mind you, Sasuke lured Orochimaru into a trap successfully when he was only 12. That feat is on another level compared to anything Shikamaru has done. As it's easy to fool fools, but it's impossible to fool geniuses. Shikamaru has always been intellectually far superior than his opponents. Sasuke defeated a Root Leader with nothing but intellect and strategies alone. Name the smartest opponent Shikamaru has faced and defeated? Your answer lies in this question.
